1. What is the name, class and level of your main character on Pyrewood Village, the one with which you wish to join Nighthaven? (This info is needed so we can process your application - and if you have a preferred nickname you may add it in parenthesis: e.g. Moonböw (Moon) or Stargazer (Eric)
Suriziel (Suri, Emma), Warrior, currently level 68.
2. What hours do you typically play? (Please include time zone as well)
I play at any and all hours at the moment, since I'm dealing with health issues and not working, so I'm home most of the time and play when I feel like it and when I have the energy! I'm at CEST / GMT+2 (Amsterdam time).
3. What is your experience with World of Warcraft? (How long have you played, were you a raider, role-player, etc.)
I've been playing since I was 16 (I'm 34 now), in original Vanilla. I think I hit 60 just as my guild got their first kill on Ragnaros, haha. Over the years, I've done anything ranging from casual raiding, a little bit more hardcore raiding (did some mythic raiding in certain expansions / raid tiers, such as Highmaul, Hellfire Citadel), to focusing more on dungeons, and being super, super casual and just enjoying the levelling aspect of things. I've also tried my hand at RP a little (I'm an avid Dungeons & Dragons player IRL) but found that's not my main interest when playing WoW. When Classic first came out I instantly jumped ship from retail to head back to a more comforting, nostalgic experience, but found that the guild I ended up in -- with a bunch of people I knew from the olden days -- was actually really toxic, so I dropped out again. Played a little bit of TBC-classic and WotLK-classic too, mainly for the relaxing nostalgia element once again, without doing anything at max level yet, and after taking a few months off from WoW entirely I'm now back!
4. What is your favorite thing about World of Warcraft Classic WotLK? (The community? The Immersion? The progression? Are you a fast leveller or do you like taking your time? Do you like doing dungeons and raids? Chatting with others? Or are you more the solo and quiet type? Tell us a bit about yourself
WotLK holds a special place in my heart. It came out at a time in my life where I had the opportunity to play it with a bunch of IRL friends, and Northrend and the whole story really gripped me. It was magical! Being able to level through those same zones again in a similar way is something I look forward to a lot (I'm about to start my Northrend journey on my main character, whee!). So yeah, the immersion definitely plays a part -- I tend to read all the quests, haha. I really love questing, and also doing dungeons with a fun, accepting group of people. At max level, I would also very much enjoy the odd casual raid.
I'd say I'm definitely the type of person who likes to spend her time doing things I enjoy -- so not grinding the hours away to obtain a tiny tiny gear upgrade, I've never enjoyed that and I've always felt stressed by situations or guilds that demanded that. I'm not a min-maxer at all but would prefer to play something I enjoy (though always making sure to read tactics where applicable, and to be knowledgeable about the spec I play to a certain degree. I like being prepared).
I can be very social and chatty, and I'd like to think of myself as a very open person. Over the past few years I've gotten to know myself a lot better and am finding I can more easily put myself in other's shoes, too. I try my best to be accommodating to everyone -- everyone has their own struggles and they are all valid. I think the world can use a little more of that... To that point, I can't always handle jumping into social situations in terms of energy, so I might take the more quiet approach sometimes as well.
I'm a very creative person who loves picking up ANY hobby that falls in that category (Gotta Catch Em All mentality towards fun crafty hobbies), from making music, to knitting and sewing, to interior design, etc etc... As such, it will come as no surprise that I also have a lot of fun creating aesthetically pleasing and fitting UIs for my WoW characters!
5. What are your goals in Classic WotLK, and what do you look forward to the most?
I'm looking forward to just having fun in this awesome expansion, be that levelling and levelling alts, or doing dungeons with a fun group of people, or doing some casual raiding eventually. The main thing I'm looking for is an emotionally mature and safe-feeling community of people that might grow into a 'home'. I've really been looking for that for years, both in retail and in classic, but every time I stumbled upon toxicity, or discrimination, or sexism / inappropriate-feeling DMs from the Guild Master, etc... or a sudden min-maxing mentality that wasn't previously advertised. I would very much enjoy having nice conversations and meeting new friends, helping others and having people help each other and just having a good time doing whatever we feel like in this game.
6. Why would you want to join Nighthaven? (Please note we ask for your reasons for wanting to join -this- guild, not just any guild)
When I saw your post on the WoW forums it instantly caught my attention in a very positive way. What a breath of fresh air to read about a guild whose main focus lies on the social side and with creating a safe and inclusive environment! It honestly sounds like a dream, especially after the number of times I've been burned in the past, haha. Inclusivity is something I've been thinking about a lot over the past few years and have learned a lot about, and I actively make an effort in real life to learn and to create an environment within my friend group where everyone feels comfortable sharing their boundaries and accessibility needs. I found out I'm autistic a little over a year ago so I've been learning a lot about my own accessibility needs as well and have gotten way better at communicating them and at actually being myself! From your guild info, I feel confident that your guild would provide a safe and comfortable environment for me to build some new social connections again! Also, I'm way past trying to do anything hardcore in WoW, so am very excited to just fully focus on the social aspect and more casual side of things.
7. What qualities do you have to offer, and what do you expect of your guild?
I've heard quite often that my enthusiasm and excitement can be infectious, so I'd like to think I'd be a bubbly addition to your guild. I'm honest, thoughtful, and considerate, and can offer both a listening ear as well as distract people who need it with useless Lord of the Rings trivia. And if anyone wants to connect over creative hobbies: YAY! Oh and, if anyone mentions Critical Role, I probably won't be able to shut up anymore. In terms of the game itself, I'd like to think I'm a decent player, too, and can hold my own especially in a casual environment where there isn't so much pressure (aargghhh, pressure...). I'm currently levelling my warrior and *might* be interested in tanking, if I can work up the courage (I used to main tank for my guild back in WotLK proper), but am also levelling a healing priest (tiny right now, level 22), and potentially also a resto druid (have one at level 28 or so) since I do really love healing as well.
What I expect from my guild is a respectful, inclusive environment in which people can have a great time exploring this game together!
8. Where did you hear of us?
I found your post in WoW Classic Guild Recruitment on the Blizzard forums!
9. Do you know any current or former member of Nighthaven? (If so please include the name of the person)
Nope, I don't know anyone, I think.
10. Is there anything else you would like to add to help us know if we´d be a good match for each other?
I think I've already probably typed too, much, haha. Looking forward to hearing from you! Also, I did see you're not taking on new members right now and will reopen in a month or so -- I'm in no rush at all, so I just figured I'd get my post up already. Love the oldschool application process, by the way.
Suriziel (Suri, Emma), Warrior, currently level 68.
