What is your character name (in-game) and what class do you play?
Swiip, a human protection warrior. I am only level 9 right now but I do intend to take my time leveling and keeping protection all the way through.
What hours do you typically play (cite time zone as well.)
My time will likely be limited in the week due to work and my early morning cycle (I love to meditate and train in the morning). For the most part I would be present around 18-20h30 UK time.
I expect most of my time will be on the week-end, where it could go anytime really.
What is your experience with World of Warcraft (how long have you played, were you a raider, role-player, etc?)
A weird one!
I discovered WoW as a teenager and introduced my brother to it. He ended up raiding and progressing while I kept rerolling and not really finding my way. I had a lot of personal issues back then (depression) and I sadly was still afraid to communicate with people even through the game.
Over the years WoW has intrigued me but I never really played it in the long run after Vanilla. I tried a few expansions but I was weirdly obssessed with playing through the whole game and invariably got bored with playing an MMO alone before reaching max level. As time passed things got worse with the changes to the leveling process. Right now it is essentially a very long grind with little reward and the experience is really not balanced nor fun. Not much point exploring or doing professions on the side. I could probably boost a character but I would love to build one from scratch instead.
Hence why I came to WoW classic. So far I have been pleasantly surprised by the experience. Lots of little nostalgia bits and it is nice to see people moving around while I explore. I keep getting sidetracked to up my professions and I have no sense that it is just useless to do so. I am also looking forward to tanking in dungeons as I fondly remember doing that during TBC!
Why would you want to join Nighthaven? Please note, we ask for your reasons for wanting to join -this- guild, not just any guild.
Funnily enough, this forum and this whole process of recruitment with fixed questions to answer is... kind of a classic wow guild recruitment. ;D
I remember doing a couple of these back in the day, with those good ol' phpBB forums. It instantly picked my interest!
That being said the real reason for my application here is the amount of care I have seen in everything I have read. In my little experience long and well written forum posts are usually quite indicative of a good atmosphere and a solid guild going forward. I like the emphasis on the social aspect and the fact that you decided to close the recruitment in order to take care of people. This dedication to create a solid community definitely interests me, I have no issue waiting a bit for it!
Which qualities do you have to offer, and - what do you expect of your guild?
I guess I could divide this into two different parts.
First I would like to experience the entirety of the game I only grasped as a kid. I did a bit of it back then but there are many things I simply never experienced. Raiding of course but also professions, PVP, lots of dungeons, AQ opening, lots of quests and entire zones, ... My "game" goal is thus to have fun discovering all that I have missed (and chuckling at some things I forgot such as the fact that you can miss mining!).
My second and bigger goal is the social aspect. As I stated above my teenage years were not exactly the most happy go lucky around. For various reasons depression got hold of me and it was not willing to go away. Although I still have some things to improve on the social side (I am terrible at chit chat IRL ^^), things largely got better over the years.
This thus leads me to MMO and social communities online. In short I would love to experience this sense of community and "camaraderie" which I did not see back then. Meeting new people and learning about them, sharing good experiences and getting comfortable with a bigger group. I have so much more self confidence than when I was a kid, but if I am honest with myself I have to say I do not really socialize with new people often. I would like to break that a bit by being part of an online community.
Where did you hear of us?
The official forum recruitment post.
Do you know any current or former member of Nighthaven (if so please cite the person)?
Nope!
Anything else you would like to add to help us know if we´d be a good match for each other?
I am a belgian guy of 30 years. I moved a couple of years ago to the UK and started my career in the game industry.
Recently I have picked up on self improvement, both physically and mentally. I now spend a noticeable amount of time doing strange things like Yoga, meditation, calisthenics, handstands, ... It all started when I decided to go to a bootcamp free sessions organized by my work. Surely I had no excuse not to do it since it was all free, it would be a good experience for me to go out of my shell. Little did I know that I would completely fell in love with training. I think it is fair to say that it was the most impactful change in my life, and for the better.
I also used to have lots of hair, but they curled monstruously quickly. In my teenage years I wanted to be cool like the other guys, but I ended up with a massive afro of curled hair instead. I sported that horrible thing for years! As it turned out I started losing my hair very early (runs in both family!), I decided to shave everything a year or two ago. I did not tell my mom, she nearly died of shock when she saw me. ;p
And I love writting, but then again you likely know that already if you have read all the way to this. =]
